Summoner's Circle Podcast Episode 9 - Fantasy 2e Primer?

So why this episode, and why now?

This one came from a problem I kept running into.

Every time Palladium Fantasy 2e comes up, the same thing happens. New players get interested, they open the book, and then they stall. Not because the game is bad, but because it is dense. It throws a lot at you all at once. Classes, skills, combat, magic, all layered together without really telling you where to start. So people either bounce off it, or they overthink it and never actually play.

That is why I made this episode.

I wanted something that cuts through that first wall. Not a full breakdown. Not a lecture. Just a clear way to approach the game so you can sit down and run it. What matters first, what you can ignore for now, and how to get a session going without feeling like you need to memorize the entire book. Because Palladium is not as complicated as it looks. It is just presented that way. Once you understand the flow, character, skills, combat, survival, it starts to click. And when it clicks, the game opens up in a big way. The world is dangerous. Travel matters. Choices matter. You feel the weight of bad decisions, and that is where the game shines. The books make that clear from the start. This is a setting built on risk, magic, and things that will kill you if you treat them lightly

So this episode is meant to get you moving.

Not perfect. Not complete. Just moving. Because the biggest mistake with Palladium Fantasy is waiting until you “get it” before you play. You get it by playing.
